Discovering Me

I am really into the online classes at the moment.

I’m taking a class with Traci Bautista called Discovering You – it’s an art marketing course. I’m not really as active in the group as I could be, and I think that’s because I’m enjoying my unfocused play with my muse too much to want to really go to work yet. Regardless of my level of interaction with others in the classroom, I am learning a lot. The information that she is sharing with us has really gotten me thinking about my art and how I share it online.

I’ve been particularly intrigued with designing a new graphic, and I’ve come up with something I really like…

I chose the name Mariposa Negra – black butterfly – because I am drawn to altered art. I can happily spend hours manipulating digital images as well as the more traditional forms of altered art. Butterflies are a symbol of transformation, so it seemed like an excellent fit. And the black? Well, my inner goth girl likes to play with my muse, too.

Anyway, my website, mariposanegra.net, has a new look. I’ve even gotten up a photo gallery. I’m still thinking about how best to arrange the photography section, but you can have a peek at some of my work in the meantime.

I just can’t say enough about how inspirational these online classes have been for me. Thanks for the motivation on the new graphic, Traci!
