Art & Soul

Posted in Artistic Endeavors, Misc. on April 28, 2011 by Patti

Finally packed and ready to head off to Art & Soul tomorrow.

This year I’m taking…

Painted Papers & a handmade book class called Cover to Cover with Misty Mawn. Can’t wait to take a Misty class in person!!

Over the Edge, 3 dimensional collage with Stephanie Rubiano

Zentangle 101 with Suzanne McNeill

Secret Surprise – you guess is as good as mine at this point – with Sally Jean Alexander

I’m also signed up for an evening class with Thomas Ashman called Dremel Applications for Mixed Media Artists

As usual, I have packed way too much! The ratio of clothes and personal items to art supplies is about 5 to 1… seems about right.

I hope to come back with fun art projects and much knowledge.
See you next week…

Goth Girlie

Posted in Artistic Endeavors on April 22, 2011 by Patti

I watched the videos from Week 3 of Christy’s class, and they are all about personalizing your girlies, so I decided to embrace my inner goth girl and put my own little spin on my newest She Art canvas.

She is still a work in progress, but I think she’s a cutie.

I really shouldn’t be playing with her at all, though.
What I should be doing is cleaning up my messy workspace so I can find what I need to pack for Art & Soul next week, and then I should be packing.

Girl Interrupted

Posted in Artistic Endeavors on April 16, 2011 by Patti

Loving the play time I’ve managed to block out this week!

Yet another girl… this one in progress. She still needs some doodling and perhaps a few other touches, but I decided to knock off and get home before the nasty storm hit. Good call on my part.

I’ll finish her early next week.
Then I’ll have to take a break for a while to tidy up the studio and get myself organized for my trip to Virginia for Art & Soul.

So much art, so little time!

More She Art

Posted in Artistic Endeavors on April 16, 2011 by Patti

I am seriously loving this process!

Managed to get some studio time yesterday afternoon to play with another girlie.

I think she is adorable.

Plans to go back up to the studio for more play time this afternoon. Whoo-hoo!

Loving the She Art

Posted in Artistic Endeavors on April 14, 2011 by Patti

I finally made it up to the studio today to try out the She Art, and I’m loving this process! The backgrounds are a blast, and then adding the girlies is so much fun!

I did my first She Art canvas this afternoon, and I’m hooked. Got two more backgounds drying to play with over the weekend.

Time to go watch the videos for week 2 now…

She Art

Posted in Artistic Endeavors on April 12, 2011 by Patti

Just started Christy Tomlinson’s She Art online workshop yesterday. Many videos and much to try! No time to play with canvas & papers & paint yet, though. Sadly, I won’t be able to make it up to my studio before Thursday this week. Must content myself with watching Christy’s instructional videos until I can get to my work table and get my hands dirty.

Take that, Deadline!

Posted in Artistic Endeavors, Misc. on April 6, 2011 by Patti

I have been working on charms for a charm swap I signed up for with a group of artists going to Art & Soul in Hampton in a few weeks. We are mailing them in, and the deadline for arrival is April 16th.

Those of you who know me well may want to sit down for this next part.

Despite having to rethink my design due to a disastrous resin pour, I just put my charms – neatly tagged and packaged, I might add – into the hands of my neighborhood UPS store. Yay me!

I can’t remember the last time I signed up for anything like this and didn’t end up sweating deadlines and paying ridiculous overnight shipping fees. I wonder if this means I’m getting organized in my old age? Let’s face it… probably not.
